Made my First Sale on Etsy

Today was a holly day for Jews, it's Yom Kippur and in Israel it's a very special day. Because its a very religious day, no one drives. It's a whole day of peace and quiet. It's very special to walk along the streets and feel the silence.
Since I’m not religious, i don’t fast like other people do, so i spend this time resting, reading books, watching TV.
This morning I was super excited because when i opened my phone, I saw I had made my first sale through Etsy. I love Etsy but for the last couple of weeks I've had no time to visit, traveling from work to the US and the UK and I really didn't have time to make anything.
So it was great that though i haven’t looked at my jewelry in a couple of weeks, i got a fun reminder that it's there just waiting for me.
the piece that I sold is this necklace which I love

and since it’s my first sale through Etsy i decided to add a little gift and made these cute hair pins from some buttons i bought a while back in the UK in the Nottingham market.

I had a lot of fun wrapping all of this up and i can’t wait to go to the post tomorrow morning and ship it out!!

Stupid but True

It is 5:06 AM.... I havent been out partying or enjoying an evening with my husband...No, for the last... I have been working (actually tried to calculate how many hours its been and i'm too tierd to be able to do that).
Its been a very long time since I pulled an all nighter, hell this week I've done a lot of things I havent done in a very long time. In the past month I learned more things than I have in the last 4 years. I'm talking about technical things, configuring systems, reading logs, writing scripts... my face twitches just thinking about it.
of course I had no time at all for my jewelry or my shop and the stats are showing it. what can I do, day job comes first. and at least i'm working on something people are waiting for.

you know how it is when you are beyond tierd, and you know you have a full day ahead? i'm too tierd to go to sleep....stupid but true....

Finally a moment to breath

And I wish that moment could have been underwater. I miss diving.
Its been too long, over 3 months!
A few days ago my friend called and said she is getting certified next week - i'm so happy. it means we have another couple we can go diving with!! But i'm also very jealous, I have to go diving, have to.
In the mean time I'm keeping myself busy making oceanic jewelry :)
like this ring - better pictures coming soon, I promise

When i get better picutres i'll list this on Etsy and add it to the Wired team monthly challege - which is amazingly in sync with my desire to go diving - Sea Creatures. there are some truely amazing things in there - worth checking it out

Don't have time to breath

Let alone make jewelry or be on ETSY to promote my shop...

Thank god it’s Thursday and the weekend is here so i can finally have some quality time in my living room, on the sofa, with all of my lovely materials laid out on the table, floor and what ever else i can find to put it on.

Actually the weekend is also going to be super busy with friends coming over for lunch and I promised to cook . Oh God, I don't cook...at all. But I promised myself and my husband I will try it out. So hopefully I don’t cause anyone any food poisoning and i will share the pictures tomorrow.

In the meantime, I made this super cute starfish on a beach pebble and I hope to decide if it will be a ring or a pendant during the weekend and finish it.

It's all about geometry

I often wonder who are the trend setters, the people who start trends or set trends - i don’t know what to call them. I mean I was never one of those people who eagerly followed the fashioniests (is that what you call those people in fashion?), who kept track of all of the coolest blogs so I really don’t understand the process.

Is there someone who wakes up one morning and decides "I'm liking mint this morning, I think that’s what next summer will be about" Or "geometry is cool, that should be a theme"?

The reason I ask is because lately I do get to see a lot more of whats trending, being on Etsy so often, browsing through Pinterest and all the other cool places and you know what? They are just swamped with these trends. I mean every second item I see on Etsy is about geometry - triangles, squares, vintage squares, vintage triangles...

well I think trends are cool I just wonder who makes them up.

All this geometry got me thinking, I have these beautiful blue beads just waiting in one of my boxes, Its time I take them out and have a bit of geometry fun.

I seriously love this necklace, too bad I only have 1 set of these beads...

A Tulip A Day

I wrote the shop's about page in Etsy today and I realized its a nice intro so why not share it here...

So my friends and Family call me Tully but my husband changed it a bit a started calling me Tulip. I loved it, because I love the flower and the fact he always uses that nickname when he is being extra sweet to me. That’s why I used it in the shop, the name makes me feel special and I hope my jewelry makes the person wearing it feel special too.

I didn’t really wear a lot of jewelry because growing up I worked at a horse stable and couldn’t really wear it, so in the last 8-9 years I’ve been making up for lost time. It started with a fascination with jewelry - window shopping, buying, wearing.... around 2008 it grow into an interest in making it myself.

I started with simple things using beads but then in 2010 I decided I want to know how to work with metals, precious metals to be exact. So i took 3 lessons in a small shop in Tel-Aviv and started testing out my abilities.

I've been making jewelry since those lessons, learning on-line and from trial and error and there have been a lot of errors :) but I enjoy the process.

I really believe jewelry should be unique so I only make 1-2 copies from a certain piece (usually once in gold and once in silver) because I think people want and appreciate that special touch and knowing that they are not going to see someone else wearing the exact same thing.

I started the shop on Etsy after selling a few pieces independently and I hope to reach a wider audience for my jewelry but to maintain the same concept - a few unique or custom pieces a week that I can share with people who will enjoy and appreciate it.

Pink Perfection

I started really making jewelry not too long ago - about 2 years just before my husband and I went on our trip around the world in 4.5 months.

I was so in love with making jewelry (and my then boyfriend :) ) that i couldn’t bear the thought of not making it for so long. But we were on the road, literally living out of a car and i couldn’t carry everything I needed with me....

It was 2.5 months into our trip when i walked into a little shop in Queenstown, New Zealand and found myself surrounded with beautiful beads from all over the world.

This is the lakes in Queenstown - Amazing!

There was a little table with different types of mussel shells and I just loved the Canadian pink mussel.

I have a few pieces that i carried from that shop through New Zealand, Hawaii and New York. Once of those pieces was used to make these cute earrings. They are super light and fun and totally remind me of NZ.
